India’s leading automobile brand Maruti Suzuki is trying to shift its effort to meet green norms by switching to more CNG based vehicles. According to the company ,they hope that the sale of CNG vehicles will boost to 12% by 2022.There has been a rise in this environment friendly fuel vehicle sales by over 50%.The company has sold about 5 lakh CNG cars between 2010 and 2018. Now ,the Indian unit of the company has demanded dealerships to bid for licenses to set CNG stations across the globe to accompany company’s plan to sell a minimum of 2 lakhs CNG based vehicle slot by 2022. Around 12,000 CNG pumps needs to get installed by the end of 2030.Currently Maruti has Wagon R, Alto 800, Eeco, Alto K10, Celerio and Ertiga as CNG based unit . This will accompany the plan of Union government to reduce carbon emissions in the air. The new emission norms and stricter fuel efficiency rules will effect most of the companies like Toyota, Ola and Uber and it was an earlier precaution taken by Maruti to be at a safe point in future. The norms require cars to be 10% or more fuel efficient in between 2017 to 2022 and 30% or more fuel efficient from 2022.The mileage will be decided by average fuel running to cover 100 km. Though CNG has always proved out to be a better alternative as compared with Petrol or Diesel. Maruti plans to be in sync with the government’s new policies.
